Well, it’s official! Obama is the 44th President of the USA. He got a bit nervy during the oath which I saw as a good thing as it proves he’s human. Mind you, I couldn’t imagine the kind of pressure you would be under with the whole world watching. I don’t think he’ll be pulling out of the unwinnable war in Afghanistan any time soon.
(update 23rd Jan’09) It turns out that Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. miss read the oath to Obama. Picture the scene: You’re about to take the oath as President. You’ve probably recited the oath a 1000 times or more to get it right. Then some plonker who should know better recites the oath wrong, leading to an awkward & potentially embarrassing few seconds for the future President. Guess what! John G. Roberts votes Republican, what a coincidence, or am I reading too much into that? Back to my original post below:
I say give the man a chance though, I liked his speech. I’m no authority on previous presidential speeches so I don’t know what he may have drawn from previous ones, if anything. He came across as sincere so lets give him a month to settle in.
Below is the oath & speech. I had to search through a bunch of silly little one or two minute snippets to find these. They was one vid with the title ‘Obama got shot’ or words to that effect. I guess some people will say anything to get their precious little upload viewed. Of course it’s not included below.
Don’t just press play as you’ll view them in the wrong order. Rather press play then hold cursor over bottom of screen, watch last of the 3 first, then second of the 3 and first of the 3 last. Sorry, can’t seem to get them to stay in order in my playlist.
