So more truths about Labours excessive over spending are revealed. Basically they’ve axed about 15,000 people at a cost of almost £1 billion due to the generous redundancy packages averaging about £60,000. They have also created about the same number of civil servant jobs. It appears no cost assessment was done to see if this policy would save money.
Why not just retrain the staff you’ve got & move them to new jobs? Was this just another Labour ploy to win voters? Labour gives you a healthy £60,000 redundancy package – the unofficial ‘vote for us next election’ gift. Did they then create the same number of jobs in the hope of buying more voters?
About 15,000 civil servant jobs were lost through compulsory & voluntary schemes since 2005. The cost was just under £900,000 but this figure probably does’nt include the gold plated pensions they all got.
The Department for Work & Pensions blew the most money, losing 8,500 jobs at a cost of £401 million. The ministry of Defence lost 2,300 jobs at a cost of £180 million. The Home Office lost 348 jobs with an average redundancy payout of £114,000.
I wonder how may quango non-jobs were axed, if any? Again, lets not forget government is now lead but the unelected ex Chancellor, the man responsible for how your tax money is spent. Info taken from the Daily Mail.
