Just gone on an 80′s trip. Give me a break! I’m 41, I was there, real time! Ah! The eighties – Ultravox – The Collection. I was big time into U2 (& still am – I’m a die hard U2 fan now) simple Minds, ZZ Top (loved the guitar), The Cult (they were the warmup band for Simple Minds at Mitlon Keynes Bowl) , Big Country too (google them). Always liked Ultravox even if they wer’nt my ‘cup of tea’ at the time. Hate it that I never got to see Ultravox live.
Out of the blue Midge Ure (Ultravox lead singer) (2nd sring to Bob Geldorf in setting up live aid) popped up on TV tonight & a clip of a classic Ultravox song was played. That was it! I just had to pack my bags & take a nostalgia trip! I dug out my Ultravox – The Collection cd. Sudden bliss! Just the Ultravox music, no videos. All available by searching my Amazon links for ‘Ultravox’. That would be the safe shopping online links at the top of my blogs page! Go visit!
Ultravox – the collection. If you like the eighties forget Madonna, listen to some real English 80′s music with a message! Sure there was U2 & Simple Minds (Dont forget INXS too) but I also also liked the beat of Ultravox. Let’s not forget thier greatest hit ‘Vienna’. Google that one too! In a ‘new wave’ kind of way Ultravox rocked in the eightes.
Of course, I also liked the base of Level 42 songs as well, But I guess this is a homage to Ultravox so maybe in another blog……#
