This post is inspired by a blog post I read elsewhere. I read it & thought ‘That’s me!’. It made me sit back for a while & think about my own ‘dreamers’ future. I got into debt hoping a problem could be solved to enable me to live in a country I wanted to stay in at the time. I landed back to reality & the high cost of living here in the UK back in April 2004. I thought it would take me a couple of years at most to clear my debts but how wrong I was. This last May I got to travel back to that same country but that too didn’t turn out the way I was hoping. I think I’m just not destined to live there. This sucks as I don’t really buy into the whole ‘destiny’ thing.
It’s been 5 years now but I’m trying to think positively. In theory, this time next year I should be out of debt. Assuming, that is, that I can find enough tiling work during that time.
So what of my ‘dreamers’ future? Well I decided to just be myself with my Aid Renegade blog & not have any particular angle except life itself. I would like my future to be in charity fundraising and / or aid work & I’m prepared to travel to other countries to do it. I guess I’m a traveller at heart & I’m really starting to get itchy feet again & want to get on with it. I want to move on from this period of my life that has paused in a deep rut. I’m not sorry but tiling wall & floors does nothing to stimulate this dreamers mind. I take responsibility for my actions, both good & bad. It’s why I didn’t just wimp out & declare myself bankrupt to make my money problem go away. Call it pride but I got myself into this little mess & it’s my job to get me out of it.
I hope that by this time next year revenue from this blog will pay me enough to live on so that I can do volunteer work of some sort overseas. Maybe aid work for my fellow human kind, maybe some conservation work. Even better – a bit of both! We are all part of the cycle of nature but I think at present the human race acts more like a virus on the planet than part of the natural cycle of life & death. Remember that job offered to live on the island & blog weekly about it? I would have loved that but never applied as I thought I was in a relationship that was going to lead me somewhere else at the time. I was brought up on programs like ‘Life On Earth’ hosted by Sir David Attenborough. It led me to work on a farm when I first left school.
Now I’m thinking about this quote: ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!’ This is a true fact! It’s the only way you can get to live your dreams. Also required is perseverance, not a natural trait for this Aries dreamer but I’m working on it. I’m treating my blog a bit like you would treat a hobby. I blog when I’ve got something to say & I’m in the mood to blog about it. Sometimes what I blog about may be boring to the reader but if it was important enough to me to blog it then that’s all that matters as far as I’m concerned.
Finally, don’t let your own failures in life get you down too much. It’s all part of natures learning process & will help make you stronger inside for when you finally get it right. I’ve had quite a few failures now, I try to learn from them & move on. Maybe it doesn’t help that I’m too honest to do proper salesperson spiel! KEEP ON DREAMING! For me that means keep on blogging and promoting my website. On the simple basis that if you don’t ask you don’t get I’d just like to point out that all links to my Aid Renegade blog are welcome, as are comments on what I blog.
