It was only a matter of time before health & safety gone mad would kill someone, if it hasn’t done so already. Roy Adams, 60, called 999 late at night complaining of chest pains. The 999 operator asked him to leave his front door open so the emergiency crew had access & just 6 minutes later a lone rapid response medic arrived.
Well this medic is an idiot & I hope they throw the book at him. He saw the door was open & feared that a burglary was in progress. Even worse he then spent 16 minutes filling out a risk assessment exercise. Surly the operator would have informed him the door would be open so he could get in? In the mean time Roy Adams had already collapsed & was not breathing but this poor excuse for a medic had waited 16 minutes before finding out. It comes as no surprise that Mr Adams was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
To me it is a criminal offence for a medic to arrive at the scene & then not do his job. This is health & safety gone mad with no common sense used by this medic. Next, if criminal proceedings are brought against this medic he’ll probably just get a verbal slap & hopefully lose his job. This of course is going to be no comfort to the family of Roy Adams.
