I’ve donated £25 to the BBC children in need charity. The BBC children in need charity is kind of like ‘Jerry’s Kid’s’ if you’re from the USA & reading this. I know that £25 may not sound like a life changing amount to many who read this but I’m still paying of the very last of my own ‘toxic debt’. Last Wednesday my HSBC bank account was overdrawn by £2.38, I’ve been living a bit ‘hand to mouth’ as my car mechanic said. Could have almost paid off the last of my debt this month if it was’nt for the fact that my car has cost me a total of £425 split over 2 visits to my mechanic in the last 5 weeks.
I can’t believe the feel good buzz I got inside by finally being able to donate some money to the BBC children in need charity myself! I’ve only managed to donate the occaisional odd pound or loose change in the last 5 years. When the 2005 tsuami hit I donated £110 via my CAF (Charities Aid Online) account, that I set up for the purpose so the tax on the money went to the charity, or so I thought. Actually, I think that tax refund amount is still sitting in my CAF account. That £110 was the last available credit I had on a credit card. Quite simply, they needed it more than me!
The BBC Children In Need appeal is a well established annual UK appeal & has done a lot of good for years. After recent posts that mention the BBC it’s good to have something positive to say about the BBC, especially as the UK public has no choice but to fund them through our annual TV tax (the TV licence).
Noted from my phone donation to the BBC children in need charity! I asked the operator who took my call what the amount deducted from my account would show as. The answer was’nt in his list of BBC children in need questions. Amazing! He had to ask! I’ve beed told my BBC children in need donation will actually show as BBC children in need in my account. If anything different I’ll post the answer in comments below. Also, as the Aid Renegade, I believe that if you donate to charity your conscience should allow you to blatantly state you’ve donated to anyone you want as it promotes the charity in question. I just don’t get these multi-millionaire celebs that ‘don’t talk about their charity donations’. Celebs should be shouting it from the hills to use their fame & promote the charity they donate to!
So donate what you can to the BBC children in need appeal, it’s a UK institution hosted by Terry Wogan amongst others. The BBC children in need charity is a dam good thing that raises millions each year. Here’s an example of how British people react to the recession – last year the BBC children in need appeal beat it’s own record of how many millions of pounds were raised. In the height of the the recession that was amazing!
Wether you live in the UK or not, please donate to the BBC children in need charity, it’s an established good cause!
