How To Open A Locked Marmite Jar That You Can’t Open! Yep! Nothing worse than a Marmite jar you can’t get open to put some Marmite on you’re toast! So O.K., you suddenly find that you can’t twist off the lid of your Marmite jar, not even with one of those jar opening kitchen tools. Well the great thing about Marmite is that you either love it or hate it. I love Marmite, it was advertised as the ‘growing up spread’ when I was a kid. Worked for me! I’m over six feet tall…..
This morning while yearning some Marmite as I hadn’t had Marmite on toast in a while I grabbed my Marmite jar. Could I un-do the lid? No way! That Marmite in the thread of the lid / jar seemed stronger than super glue! It wasn’t till that same evening that I had an idea to enable me to get my Marmite fix.
So here’s how you un-do a stuck Marmite jar lid. Simply stand your marmite jar in a dish or bowl upside down on it’s lid and add boiling water. Leave to stand for a few mimutes then grab the Marmite jar and turn it the right way up and twist off the lid with your hands. The heat from the boiling water softens the Marmite that is locking the jar / lid threads together like super glue. Job done! Enjoy you’re Marmite!
PS- Note to any Aussie’s that like that ‘Vegemite’ stuff… A/ Marmite Rules on taste! B/ Don’t know if this works with a stuck Vegemite lid as I don’t let Vegemite into my diet!
