This is about Starbucks coffee business ethics in regards to a request by British troops who requested some of their coffee while on duty in Afghanistan. This info came via a ‘email your friends’ style viral email campaign. Feel free to copy & paste this into an email to your friends.

We know some of us enjoy Starbucks, but this is totally beyond words……………….
Recently, British Royal Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.
Starbucks replied, telling the Royal Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.
So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT buying any of their products!
I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn’t mean we don’t support the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.
If you feel the same as I do then please pass this along.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you’ll all be there again to support us when we deploy once more.
Sgt. Howard Wright,
1st Platoon, Recon Company, Royal Marines

PLEASE BE KIND ENOUGH AND DON’T DELETE THIS… BUT PLEASE PASS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E- MAIL LIST, IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE BEEN WOUNDED, LOST LIMBS AND EVEN DIED, SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE !
Also, please don’t forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit, the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks ACTUALLY CHARGED THEM!!!
AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY
BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.
There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK, and there’s no doubt that our soldiers would get the same response from this company, so let us do our bit and boycott Starbucks to show them how absolutely despicable their actions are !!

I guess this Starbucks business ethic affects US troops as well.

How to donate your car to the Vietnam Veterans of America. In today’s tough economical climate it is becoming harder for the VVA to raise money to continue supporting Vietnam veterans. One way is by donating your car through their car donation website. You can also call toll free on 1-800-Help-Vets.

Weather you have an old car that doesn’t run any more or a newer car worth more you can donate your car in 50 states in the US. Car donation online is fast, secure & easy. The VVA is 501 (C) (19) US registered charity so your donation is also tax deductible, you receivea donation receipt for your car. You select a blue book value for your car up to $500. If sold for more than $500 you will get an IRS form 1098-C showing the sale value. Cars are normally picked up in 24 – 48 hours so this is a great way to create that extra space on your drive way.

In addition to cars you can also donate motor cycles, trailers, boats, RV’s, vans & property to the VVA.

Why choose the VVA car donation charities? Since 1978 the VVA has supported Vietnam veterans with access to quality health care, promoted a positive public view of veterans and advocated issues related to veterans. Also they have under taken accounting for soldiers missing in action and prisoners of war. they also support other veterans from various wars since, including the current gulf war. With over 40 years of experience in the unique field of veteran support they are needed as much now as in the 70′s so all donations are greatly appreciated.

While looking at new twitter followers sites & blogs I came across a great post about ways to support charity online using social media sites. The 10 topics covered are:

Write a blog post, share stories with friends, follow charities on social networks, find volunteer opportunities, embed a widget on your site, organize a tweetup (meet up for you non twitterers), express yourself using video, sign a petition and organize an online event.

All topics are explained in the blog post, I’m not going to just ‘rip it’ & post in my own blog, even though it has been simultaneously posted on over 100 blogs. The info is a collaboration between the Mashable blogs ‘Summer Of Good’ and Max Gladwell’s ’10 ways series’.

The 10 ways are great to use, I especially liked twitition which I’ve bookmarked for future use. Here’s the posts link:
